Earlier in June, the company announced Transifex Native, an end-to-end, fully cloud-based localization stack that puts global content management at the center of product development. Transifex Native addresses the current localization challenges and provides a new, innovative approach to product localization. The first environment that the company has developed Transifex Native for was Python.
With Transifex Native, localization becomes a seamless part of the development cycle, eliminating delays and superfluous steps for engineers. Content and product managers can now update the product phrases themselves, without requiring a new redeployment from their engineering teams.
The novel internationalization library uses a cloud-based global content repository instead of traditional files, which enables developers to focus on writing code without worrying about localization file creation, editing, or distribution. Transifex Native allows all source texts and translations across languages and platforms to be stored and managed in one centralized place.
Another innovative tool that Transifex Native is making available to developers is the Content Delivery Server (CDS) that enables Over-the-air (OTA) translation delivery. CDS is a standalone service responsible for storing and serving phrases using Transifex Native SDK calls, as well as API calls to the Transifex application. It works similarly to a CDN and serves all translations from a cache, so that retrieval is done quickly.
Transifex started its operations as an open-source project and has a big open-source community. Today, Transifex Native builds on that core mission as an Open Source initiative that aims at involving as many people as possible while also growing the community around the new paradigm for software localization. “Our plan is to offer it for additional languages such as Go, Java, Ruby, and PHP, with the valuable support of our Open Source community,” said Dimitris Glezos.
Founded in Greece and now headquartered in Silicon Valley, Transifex helps companies – from Startups to the Enterprise – go global. With our SaaS-based Translation and Localization Platform, organizations can easily translate digital content such as websites, mobile apps, games, video, help centers, subtitles, and more on a continuous basis. Leading companies including Eventbrite, Trello, HubSpot, and Waze rely on Transifex to achieve a truly multilingual, international presence. For more information, visit transifex.com.
